The Maldives

I believe the word “idyllic” must have been formed with the Maldives in mind.  A direct British Airways flight from London and you are in Male, where following a sea plane or speed boat transfer you arrive in your own piece of paradise in the Indian Ocean. Made up of hundreds of little atolls dotted around these turquoise waters, the Maldives is home to many of the top world renown hotels such as Four Seasons, One & Only, St Regis and Soneva. 

Over water, beachfront and even treetop accommodation is on offer here.  One of my firm favourites is the long established Soneva Fushi.  Soneva’s philosophy has long been about luxury and sustainability, and this is clearly evident when you tour the eco centro and organic gardens finishing off picking some greens and herbs for lunch.  Snorkel with mantra rays and have dinner on a private sandbar.  You can even spend the night under the stars, there are a host of things to help you while away the long sunny days.
